Gods / “Lwa”/"Loa" / Deities
Lwa are not all good or evil or etc, some will leave curses or blessings just depending on their personality or how they feel. "Monsters" are also considered lwa.
Lwa typically cannot directly interact nor communicate with anything in the mortal plane; only through things like tarot or dreams, unless particularly strong. They are also able to freely appear physically beneath the blue sink holes, as it is the plane of monsters.
When Erzulie (who was always particularly strong) became The World card, centuries ago, she created a new rule; All Lwa have hearts, and can be "banished" with a sword to it. This is what prompted her symbol (a sword in the heart.)
When Lwa are stabbed in the heart, they are not literally "killed." However, they lose their identity and forms, and ability to even think, and it becomes incredibly difficult for them to bring theirselves back to existence. Think of it like "i think therefore i am;" they lose that.
Agwe, Oton, Adomi, and Sol were all more-so demigods than gods, as they were born later with "mortal" hearts; they can Only exist physically on the mortal plane regardless of what form they take, whether it be a tree or a beam of sunlight.
There are more demigods besides those four; many of them are weaker and only appear as animals or etc.
Lwa are now often identified by their heart. As well as sometimes their weapon as a for-fun status thing, when their weapon is linked to their heart.
Erzulie, The World: The arcana holder; she is born from, and is, an island. Her card depicts her and the ocean.
Ton Reken: A very large shark, "monster" heart. Doesn't hold a card. Erzulie's friend, who raised Agwe. Later dies by Oton.
Sabado /Samedi/Saturday; Trickster deity of the undead: Does not hold a card(but many assume they do depicting saturday celebrations.) Can only appear physically via deals with mortals where they can possess the mortal for one assigned night.
Monster of the blue sink holes: “Lusca” Kraken-like. "monster" heart. Doesn't hold a card. Banished/"Killed" by Erzu in her youth, and came back resentful. Would often curse siren and pirates.
Adòmi: God of spring. Born from a tree. Holds a vita card, depicting him resting, sleeping amongst the nature.
Sol: God of the summer solstice. Born from a ray of sun. Holds a pyro card, depicting his forever renewing love for Alluvien.
Agwé: God of currents? Born from coral. Holds a hydro card, depicting her (saving mortals for praise.)
Otòn: God of Autumn. Born from a fish corpse. Holds a light/dark card, depicting his own death, featuring Sol.
